Fighting Back for My Beloved

People who seem perfect are all wounded in some way.

Only in each other’s gaze can they heal.

When they first met, Lin Junran was just a shabby, broken-down boy. His poor family had suffered a disaster, and his world collapsed in an instant, until he met Su Yu.

He gave her everything he had, only for her to leave without a word. He suspected she was playing him. She would have to repay that debt someday.

Eight years later, they meet again.

[1] Orthopedic Clinic: The handsome Doctor Lin is accompanied by a flirtatious woman holding a pair of high heels in her left hand.

After a brief exchange of glances:

“Twisted your ankle? You’ll need a cast.”

“It’s only a sprain, isn’t it?”

He stands and leads her behind the curtain, loosening the buttons of his shirt beneath his white coat. “No cast?” His eyebrow arches slightly. “Then you’ll go running around again, changing boyfriends one after another. This time, it should be my turn.”

Her face turns bright red, all the way down to her fair neck.

[2] Everyone who knows Su Yu knows that boyfriends are the one thing the young lady has in abundance. But only those who have dated her understand that none of them ever gets close to the beauty herself.

She only kisses the boy who has always followed behind her, cool and obedient, like a fierce little pet she’s raised herself.

Su Yu guards a secret she can’t bring herself to confess. She only wants to raise him as a good little brother, thinking that no matter how much she lets him off the leash, he’ll never get away.

Until one day, another seductive woman drapes an arm over his shoulder, and the great beauty Su finally learns what it means to be mad with jealousy.

She forgot that the little one would grow up too. One day, he would pounce on her, leaving her unable to resist.

1. Older woman-younger man romance, unrelated by blood.

2. Short story, one-on-one, happy ending.
