Xie Yan is someone who transmigrated into a book. He is the protagonist's closest friend, a brother he can confide in, and an unwavering source of support. He stays by the protagonist's side when he feels lost, encourages him when he's at his lowest, and never abandons him when he goes off to face certain death alone. He's the perfect best friend.
The only imperfection is...
As the story progresses, Xie Yan always turns evil for one reason or another and joins the villains.
World One: The Urban Martial Arts World, New Life
Xie Yan: "Wasn't I the protagonist's one and only, most trusted childhood friend? Why are people saying he killed my parents? I'm turning evil!"
World Two: The Supernatural Fantasy World, Clear Water Town
Xie Yan: "Wasn't I the Ghost King golden finger the protagonist raised from childhood, the one he could always count on? Why are people saying my death was all his fault? I'm turning evil!"
World Three: The Immortal Cultivation World, Demon Breaker
Xie Yan: "Wasn't I the protagonist's closest confidant, the brother he relied on most? Why are people saying he killed everyone in my sect? I'm turning evil!"
But Xie Yan never expected that when he returned to face the protagonist as a villain wreathed in dark energy, he would be greeted by a completely different protagonist, one a hundred times darker than him...
Xie Yan: This can't be right.
:)
Please note:
1. Each Xie Yan is a different person with the same name in a different world. The stories can be read as standalone arcs, and there is a System.
2. Everything the "original protagonist" does in the blurb is a misunderstanding. Neither partner in this story has wronged the other.
3. Reader's guide: Don't overthink it. The plot goes wild and gets melodramatic. Most of the small worlds are based on male-oriented fiction, so please don't read if that bothers you.
4. The couple are each other's one and only, body and soul.
The blurb has been revised a second time. I couldn't think of much for the previous parents-related plotline.
Theme: Life is a mountain that must be climbed again and again. As long as you keep moving, you'll always be heading upward.
