Blurb:
Gu Qilin grew up with her master and senior brothers in the mountains. As she got older, her master and senior brothers each left the mountains in turn.
Master: "Qilin, once I go down the mountain and earn some money, I'll come back and buy you candy."
Eldest Senior Brother: "Don't worry, little sister. I'll earn money down the mountain and come back with pretty clothes for you."
Second Senior Brother: "Little Junior Sister, Master and Eldest Brother must have gone to make a fortune. I'll go find them and bring back some money for you."
And then they never came back.
Gu Qilin waited and waited in the mountains. In the end, she packed her things in a fury and vowed to find her master and senior brothers.
Her first job after coming down the mountain was to seal her dead client's body in a coffin and deliver him, coffin and all, back to the capital.
Gu Qilin readily agreed. She performed the funeral rites and did everything by the book, but just as she was about to seal the coffin, she hoisted the lid into place and felt a tight grip around her wrist. She looked down and saw her supposedly dead client staring weakly back at her.
"Help... me..."
Gu Qilin: "A corpse has come back to life?!!!"
As Crown Prince, Ning Huaiyun spent his life striving for the throne and fulfilling his family's expectations. His schemes eventually cost him his life. He swore that if he were reborn, he would never be born into the imperial family. He would live an ordinary, peaceful life.
Who could have guessed that the moment he opened his eyes, he would find himself about to be buried alive!!!
Ning Huaiyun: "Miss, don't put the lid on that coffin!"
After narrowly escaping being buried alive, he was amazed to discover that he wasn't quite dead. His younger brother had taken the throne and posthumously named him Retired Emperor, and was just waiting for his coffin to return to the palace so he could be buried in the imperial mausoleum.
He promptly set the coffin on fire, faked his death, and fled with Gu Qilin in the dead of night.
But Gu Qilin kept taking jobs along the way, cheerfully transporting corpses. She was so guileless and bad at talking back that people cheated her time and again.
Ning Huaiyun had no choice but to take charge of the books, reveal his crafty side, and become a shrewd merchant.
Once he took over the accounts, Gu Qilin finally stopped losing money.
Her beautiful eyes brimmed with gratitude. "From now on, you're my benefactor!"
Ning Huaiyun: "Well, that's..."
Gu Qilin: "Master said that when a debt of gratitude can't be repaid, you should give yourself to your benefactor."
Ning Huaiyun: "Good girl."
The once-impoverished Eldest Senior Brother becomes the richest man in the land and spends money like water.
The eccentric Second Senior Brother is a renowned physician whose every treatment is worth a fortune.
Their perpetually disheveled master is honored as the Imperial Preceptor, then disappears without a trace after saving the world.
When they return to enjoy a good life with their little junior sister, they discover that some good-for-nothing man from the outside has run off with their girl!
Author's Notes:
1. The main focus is mystery and detective work, with mild horror elements.
2. This is a completely fictional setting. Most of the customs and funeral traditions are my own inventions.
3. One-on-one romance, both leads are each other's only partners, happy ending.

Before she was reborn, Qiguan Shu was the female head of the Qiguan family. Beautiful and refined, she was the most sought-after heiress in Yingchuan Province, yet no one could win her hand. She should have chosen a husband she liked and lived out her days with him.
But at a banquet, the newly acknowledged true son of the provincial governor's family took a fancy to her. When she refused his proposal, he turned his love to hate and schemed until her family was destroyed.
When she was left destitute on the streets, all her former admirers avoided her. Only the false young master, now the son of a peasant woman, reached out to help and kept her safe.
After being reborn, Qiguan Shu thought it over and promptly sent a betrothal gift, proposing to the false young master and taking him as her husband.
But the false young master, who had never run away even when bullied by the true son in her previous life and could hold his own against him, ran off just like that???
·
Gu Yunxi, son of the provincial governor, was famous throughout the region. A favored disciple of a celebrated scholar, he had enjoyed years of smooth sailing, living the carefree life of a young noble in fine clothes and on horseback.
Who would have thought that first, the revelation of the true and false young masters would make him the son of a peasant woman, and then the richest woman in Yingchuan Province would announce her proposal and force him to become her live-in husband?
He could do without that fortune!
Gu Yunxi had barely run away when he came across a peerlessly beautiful woman who had been deceived.
She was lovely, fragile and helpless as duckweed on the water or willow fluff in the wind, and utterly pitiful. He had meant to rescue her out of sympathy, but she deliberately flirted with him and showed him favor, one step at a time, each look of her beautiful eyes full of allure.
Gu Yunxi kept his gaze cool and repeatedly told her to back off. But when she smiled sweetly at someone else, he finally couldn't help himself. He wrapped an arm around her slender waist and gritted his teeth in displeasure.
After getting him this worked up, how could she not marry him? There was no way to smooth things over otherwise!
Gu Yunxi had always known that this beautiful woman had a fiancé who ran away, the man responsible for her plight. He had secretly been jealous of him for ages and cared far too much.
It wasn't until Gu Yunxi passed one examination after another that Qiguan Shu finally said she wanted to take him home to meet her father.
Then he saw the grand, lavish mansion before him, the enormous characters "Qiguan" on its signboard, and his doting wife standing beside him.
So I'm the scumbag?
Gu Yunxi: "Was I abandoned, or were you deliberately leading me on?"
Qiguan Shu's eyes sparkled. "Wouldn't you be happy to save yourself thirty years of hard work, husband?"
Author's Notes:
1. Everyday farming life.
2. This is a completely fictional setting, and the worldbuilding is mine. If you want to insult someone, insult your keyboard. The keyboard spirits typed it all out themselves.
3. One-on-one romance, both leads are each other's only partners, happy ending.
Theme: Stay true to your original aspirations, and you'll reach your destination.
I have completely released my true nature, hahahahahaha, good or bad!!
Hahaha, he also knows how to prevent the little girl from finding him.
Ah ah ah finally updated it again
It's really been chasing me from the beginning to now
Finished? Okay, I got it. I hung up and my phone ran out of gas. Please remember to update the extra chapter.
Damn, it was over when I woke up. It was so fast but so reasonable. The grudge against the palace was finally over. It was so difficult for the two treasures. I look forward to the extra chapter where the two of them will love each other and return to their hometown!!! Ning Huaiyun, you deceived Qi Lin so much, make it up to me in the extra episode!!! (Will there be a side story? TT
Woohoo, the epidemic will pass soon and everyone will get better.
The writing is really good, especially this extra chapter, which makes up for the regret that the male protagonist in my main text did not become the emperor. Hahaha, I am a layman, and I feel that such an excellent male protagonist should lead the female protagonist all the way up and enjoy a golden life!
It's all the result of the excellent prince back then. It's great.
"He" gave the author a big worm~she
