Five years later, Wen Chengyan became the youngest captain in the S City police department, still pursuing the anti-drug leads his father had left behind.

In the middle of the night, Zhou Zhi, covered in wounds, knocked on his door.

Wen Chengyan called the precinct chief at once, then turned to the man at the door, his expression cold.

"I've already called the police. Mr. Zhou, you're under arrest."

Zhou Zhi didn't seem to care. Even though the gunshot wound was aching deep in his bones, he still tremblingly opened his arms and gave him a pale smile.

"Aren't you a police officer? Give me a hug."

Zhou Zhi yearned for the light.

Once, he had struggled out of the darkness for that light, only to willingly return to the darkness for its sake.

All so that Wen Chengyan could be safe and have a peaceful, worry-free life.
