Sitting in her bridal sedan, Lu Jili thought back on everything the Lu family had sacrificed for the new emperor, then resolutely slit her own throat.

Her final thought before dying was, "What a shame I never got to see what my second husband looks like."

No one expected that she would become friends with Meng Po in the underworld, then wake up again in the year she was seventeen and about to be married.

The moment her veil was lifted, Lu Jili decided to call off the wedding. She went outside, grabbed the first man she saw, and asked, "Hey, do you want to make a name for yourself?"

Luo Zhixing, out for a stroll, blinked at her, looking innocent and easy to fool.

"Listen up, everyone! He's the man I'm marrying today!" Gripping him tightly, Lu Jili shouted all the way to the main hall, making sure everyone heard her shameless declaration loud and clear.

The groom across from them and the guests stared at one another. The wedding party, quick to read the room, immediately swapped their celebratory gongs and drums for mournful suona horns.

Amid the funeral music blaring overhead, Lu Jili learned who the man beside her was. Gritting the words out between her teeth, she said, "You're Luo Zhixing? A second marriage, and in the end it's still you?"

Meanwhile, Yin Huan, crying as she wiped her nose on him, made up her mind: with a face like the Divine Lord's, she would stay by his side no matter what!

Disdainfully pulling her loose collar back into place, Shen Jinzhu said solemnly, "Miss, I have someone I love!"

Complaining that mortals were weak and troublesome, Yin Huan gave him a flirtatious wink. "Then I'll kill that moonlight in your heart and become your cinnabar mole!"

The dice of fate rolled once more. By the time Shen Jinzhu's heart belonged entirely to her, all he could do was hold her lifeless body, his heart torn apart with regret.

(Not your typical body-double trope, and not your typical groveling-to-win-her-back trope.)
