I Once Bet Everything on Loving You

Jiang Nian used to believe that even if every man in the world cheated, Lu Lin never would. When she was sixteen, she ran away from the Jiang family and went all in on following Lu Lin. Back then, they lived in a cold, underground basement. Every winter, they held each other to keep warm. Jiang Nian would curl up in Lu Lin's arms, and whenever she looked up, she would see his furrowed brow and guilt in his amber eyes, as if he were a sinner just because he couldn't provide her with a comfortable life. But that wasn't true. In Jiang Nian's heart, Lu Lin was the boy she trusted without reservation. She had risked everything to go with him, and he would rather work three jobs in a day and lose more than ten pounds in a month from exhaustion than let her stop studying dance. He told her, "Nian Nian, you keep studying. I can support you." At last, they made it through. Jiang Nian became a teacher in the arts department at A University, and the penniless boy became CEO Lu, a powerful figure in A City’s business world. Then Lu Lin cheated. The day they left the Jiang family, they had to rush, and all the sleeper tickets were sold out. Lu Lin emptied his pockets, but could only get one hard-seat ticket from a scalper. Once they boarded the train, Lu Lin didn't dare leave her side. Jiang Nian sat in her seat, wrapped in a snow-white down jacket, and smiled up at him. She looked so sweet that he was afraid if he stepped away, someone might bully her. She looked like someone who would be easy to bully. Back then, all Lu Lin could think about was Jiang Nian. I have to protect her, he thought. But he never imagined that in the end, the person who would hurt her the most would be him. [1] After all those long years, they eventually lost each other.
