As the seed of an immortal divine tree, Qi Yu slept in an underground palace for more than two thousand years. When he finally crawled out, every monster in the world chased after him like he was Tang Sanzang, eager to devour him. Fortunately, his guardian god came swooping down to rescue him and brought him home to feed him.

One is a tree seed, the other a gardener, and their daily interactions grow increasingly bizarre:

The gong is based on the Kaiming beast, a nine-headed, human-faced tiger, and the god Lu Wu from The Classic of Mountains and Seas. I've made some changes: when the gong transforms, he's a giant nine-headed tiger, not a giant tiger with a human face.

The weak, timid scholar, who can't lift a finger or carry a load, charges alone into the bandits' den. As expected, he's tied up and taken before their chief. The rough-hewn bandit king on a tiger-skin stool grins at him. "May I ask who has come to sit before me?"

The refined and easygoing county magistrate replies, "Your father."

Meng Tian initially thinks Kong Rang is picking on him. Later, he realizes that this brat acts just as tough in front of the emperor himself.

Outsiders say Kong Rang is so bold because he was lucky enough to inherit the surname of Confucius. Only Meng Tian knows that the petty official, who usually has drooping dead-fish eyes and looks down on everyone, sobs against his back when drunk: "My whole family died long ago.
