The story begins when a cousin from her hometown comes to Shuncheng. Ye Xingge, who carries the witch-clan bloodline of the old Ye family, was chosen as a child to be the mountain god’s bride. Once she grew up, someone from beyond the mountain would come to take her away, marry her to the mountain god, and use her as a tool to bear his descendants.
But Ye Xingge loves food and fun, and can’t go a day without her computer. How could she let the old woman in her family “sell” her off to some mountain with no modern conveniences? So, when her father changed jobs, six- or seven-year-old Ye Xingge unleashed her formidable powers of persuasion and finally talked her whole family into moving far, far away from their hometown.
After finally getting into college, she thought she could at last start living an ordinary life and lay the groundwork for buying a car and a home. Then a relative from her hometown shattered the peace. The strange power in her blood seemed to awaken once again with the little cousin’s arrival.
Humans aren’t supposed to see things invisible to the naked eye. But now that she has, does that mean the fate of being “sold” off to the mountains has begun turning once more?
