The Emperor's Will [Ying Zheng Selfcest]

Ever since the Qin dynasty fell in the second generation, Ying Zheng's spirit had lingered in the world, unwilling to leave. One day, he suddenly returned to the past. Looking at his younger self, a taciturn, brooding boy, he taught him how to govern and command others, and gave him care and affection. Just as he'd finally managed to make the boy a little more cheerful, the boy died in an accident. Ying Zheng had no choice but to find another body and continue his grand plan to strengthen the Qin state, but gradually he began to realize that something wasn't quite right. -- After returning to the past, of course Ying Zheng intended to kill the treacherous rebels and change the fate of Qin. Everything unfolded just as he'd planned. His younger self was even more obedient and well-behaved than he had expected, and did almost everything he said. He could already picture Qin lasting through the second, third, and countless generations to come. But something increasingly seemed wrong: the boy he used to be was looking at him with a gaze that grew ever more intense. It wasn't until one day, when Ying Zheng was pinned hard against a wall and couldn't even struggle free, that he realized things had gotten out of hand. Zhao Zheng gripped his wrist so tightly that it felt as though he might snap it, making Ying Zheng frown. In the darkness, he heard Zhao Zheng give a low, sardonic laugh through gritted teeth. "Since we've already made a mistake, we might as well see it through. After all I've done, it's not unreasonable for me to ask you for one thing." He leaned down and kissed him. -- One-on-one, happy ending. An old-school flavor, probably melodramatic. The author ate the political intrigue. A simple, fluffy read. Theme: Stand on your own two feet.
