[This story is also called A Little Panda Raises a Villain with Good Food in a Period Novel]

After failing her tribulation, the little panda Xiong Miaomiao was struck by heavenly lightning and sent to the unfamiliar 1980s. Not only had she become a person with no family, home, or job, her body had also shrunk to the size of a ten-year-old.

With no idea where she was and nobody willing to adopt her, she was taken home by a kind grandmother who found her.

The grandmother eagerly introduced her only relative: "This is my grandson. His name is Song Yan."

Song Yan? Wasn't he the tragic villain from a period novel she'd been reading recently?

Grandma's family was poor, and after Xiong Miaomiao, a big eater, joined them, their rice jar was soon empty.

To stay alive long enough to find a way back, Xiong Miaomiao picked up a spatula and returned to her old trade.

Pan-fried buns, soup dumplings, fried flatbreads, wontons, Sichuan dumplings, fried flour paste. Would you like a serving, young man or young lady?

Eight years later, the little food truck had become a popular local restaurant, with customers lining up around the block.

Xiong Miaomiao, whose hands were cramped from counting all her money, briefly forgot that every little panda spirit had to undergo a tribulation upon reaching adulthood.

Only when dark clouds gathered overhead and thunder roared did Xiong Miaomiao suddenly rush out of the house.

Worried, Song Yan followed her and watched helplessly as a lightning bolt as thick as an arm struck her.

Distraught, Song Yan stumbled toward her. But in the charred pit left by the lightning, Xiong Miaomiao was nowhere to be seen. Only a soot-black little panda remained.
