In 1589 Peter Binsfeld associated each sin with a demon, a demon representing each sin who would tempt those who had the same sin. According to Binsfeld's classification, the pairings are as follows:
Lucifer Lucifer: Pride
Mammon Mammon: Greed
Asmodai Asmodeus: Lust is lustful
Satan: Wrath
Beelzebub Beelzebub: Gluttony
Leviathan: Envy is jealous
Belphegor: Sloth
Various sins are actually closely related (for example, pride - excessive obsession with oneself actually implies gluttony, excessive consumption or waste of food, and other sins have the same connection). Every sin is a manifestation of thinking that oneself is more important than God, and therefore failing to devote oneself to loving God wholeheartedly.
