When Jiang Nan was eighteen, she took a liking to an esports player. Or, more accurately, she took a liking to his hands. She even wrote a novel with him as her inspiration.

Back then, she was a budding author, and the esports player wasn't famous either.

No one can say for sure whether Jiang Nan's novel became a hit first or Yan Bei made a name for himself in esports first. All they know is that Yan Bei later became the esports world's "God of the North," while Jiang Nan became a famous author, and the novel inspired by Yan Bei was optioned for a screen adaptation.

At a casting audition, Jiang Nan told the actors trying out,

"This one's no good. He doesn't look anything like my God of the North."

"Handsome, your smile makes you look more like him. Keep smiling."

When she turned around, the male lead from her novel, the man she'd based him on, was standing behind her with an amused smile.

"You like me?"

One day, Yan Bei, who had never been one to fuss over his appearance, diligently applied hand cream, put on a hand mask, and even booked a hand spa for the weekend.

In response to his teammates' and fans' questions, he closed his eyes and remembered an interview Jiang Nan had given recently:

"I heard you're a fan of God of the North. Do you like playing games too, or do you simply like him as a person?"

He had just started to smile when he heard Jiang Nan reply, "His hands are pretty."

Yan Bei's smile froze halfway. "..."

"You said you liked me, but you were just after my hands?"

One night, just after Jiang Nan updated her novel, Yan Bei came up behind her and held up his phone screen. Breathing heavily into her ear, he said, "Why don't you write a fanfic about us? Make it like this. You don't have to imagine anything, I'll show you."

P.S. 1. This is esports in name only, with very little about the competitions. The game is fictional and doesn't exist in real life, and the characters aren't based on real people.
