The charity auction set a new record. Rumor had it that the bidder who spent a fortune was a newcomer.

Out of curiosity, Lin Yutong went to offer her congratulations. When she looked up, she met a pair of pitch-black eyes.

The person who introduced them said warmly, "I hear Mr. Luo went to the same middle school as you."

The man's handshake was courteous but haughty. His fingertips seemed to press, quite casually, against the engagement ring on her middle finger, digging into Lin Yutong's skin until it hurt.

She regretted wearing such an ostentatious diamond ring and instinctively tried to pull her hand back.

"Miss Lin was quite famous back then." Luo Yubai couldn't even be bothered with the usual pleasantries of a reunion after so long.

His tone was cool and distant.

Lin Yutong was hiding a secret.

For instance, she and Luo Yubai had a history.

But that was all youthful foolishness.

Now that she was wearing someone else's ring,

whatever they had once said or done no longer counted.

Fortunately, Luo Yubai was a good ex, too. He ended things cleanly and never said anything cruel.

Lin Yutong glared at Luo Yubai, eyes wide. From behind the tightly shut door came her fiance's anxious calls.

She didn't dare answer.

A dark fire she had never seen before burned in the man's black eyes.

He raised a hand and lightly touched her smeared lipstick. "Wasn't this what you used to like?"

The radiant young man of the past had turned out to be a relentless evil spirit.

Or perhaps...

The radiant young man had only been pretending.

The relentless evil spirit was the real him.

/His kiss was an avalanche long in the making./

Primarily set in the city, with flashbacks to campus
