Prologue

Hair the color of night

Eyes like fire

A low voice, distant and indifferent, keeping everyone at arm's length

You hide your truest self behind your coldness

If you could,

you would rather have nothing at all

That way,

you would never know

the pain of fearing a loss

The flames in your hands

again and again

dance through the endless dark night, weaving a graceful melody of despair

What rings in your ears

is the cursed whisper of an alluring shadow

You pay no mind to the striking red at the corner of your lips

You smile

Your desire to protect has never wavered

If your sacrifice could bring happiness to your friends and family,

you would have no regrets...

You bury yourself deep in the darkness

yet somehow,

you find yourself drawn to that orange sunlight

For the first time,

you find yourself hoping
