Koga Heiya (1899-1927)
A native of Kyoto, active during the Taisho period. A renowned modern and contemporary writer, artist, and thinker, and one of the major founders of modern Japanese literature.
Notable works: The Demon of Pingma Mountain, The Cave, Crossroads, Mud, Beneath the Sea of Desire, and A Fool's Great Dream.
His writing was sharp and profound. His works often criticized the ills of the times, every word a gem, with biting criticism that pulled no punches.
His works possess an astonishing artistic quality without equal throughout history, and hold an important place in the history of world literature. His writing has even been called "a dazzling treasure."
Well, Koga Heiya felt that, having achieved this much, he had already met the System's goal of becoming a "great literary master."
So the next step was...
"Exit stage."
Ah, not surprising in the least. Isn't that how great writers are? Taking one's leave at the height of one's fame is the kind of ending that suits the beauty of impermanence.
Koga Heiya wholeheartedly agreed.
So he picked a snowy night he liked, downed three bottles of plum wine, swallowed a whole bottle of tranquilizers, and happily kicked the bucket!
But then...
Koga Heiya: Damn it! Who yanked me off the train at the Sanzu River?!
He opened and closed his eyes, and Koga Heiya had transmigrated to the twenty-first century, more than eighty years later.
The Time Government, which had dug him out of his grave and brought him back to life, dumped him in Yokohama with a thud, shoved a pen into his hand, and shouted, "Please keep writing and save the world!"
Koga Heiya: Hello? Is this some newfangled way of pestering an author for an update?
