Jiang Yi paused his pen. He glanced at the boy in the isolation room, eyes vicious as he lowered his head to tear at flesh, then added another line:
Training countdown: thirty days. Death countdown: thirty days. Cause of death for the third regression: toxin corrosion.
When the apocalypse arrived, Jiang Yi gained an ability: death sent him back in time.
Each time he went back, he returned to thirty days before his death. But every regression required him to complete a designated task. If he failed, the regression was deemed unsuccessful, and he would die immediately.
On his third regression, Jiang Yi's task was to raise a boy and teach him to adapt to human society in the apocalypse.
The boy had fluffy ears and a tail, and was fiercely wary and aggressive. He was vicious and liked to bite.
At first, Jiang Yi planned to finish the job and run. Having a deadweight to drag along in the apocalypse was simply too much trouble.
But a month later, the boy had put away his sharp claws. He tugged at Jiang Yi's clothes, wagged his tail, and looked at him with soft, dark eyes. Then, in halting speech, he said,
“I... want... to go... with you. Is that okay...?”
Jiang Yi: ...Of course the adorable puppy I raised is coming with me.

The few details it offers about Jiang Yi's life include:
“At first, a boy always followed Jiang Yi. Together they founded the largest human base of the time: Dawn. But in the end, Jiang Yi killed the boy and buried him in Pingguang.
