I Am the Villain on Infinite Studios

[Complete. My next novel, "Mother of the Alien Species Wants to Build Infrastructure [Interstellar]", is now underway. Mwah.]

Zhuo Yu willingly joins a role-playing game concealing deadly danger, hoping to cure his paralyzed legs. But unlike ordinary players being chased and hacked at by bosses, something about his assigned role seems off.

In an American splatter film, he's the lover the masked butcher wants to protect.

In a Japanese supernatural horror film, he's the lovesick soul who resurrects his ghostly boyfriend.

In a Chinese occult horror film, he's the cult leader infatuated with an evil god.

Zhuo Yu realizes that no matter what role he's assigned, he seems to be on the same side as the instance boss...

The players: Could it be that one of us is a traitor?

Zhuo Yu: Oh no, I've become the villain. :)

·

In this trial, everyone is guilty.

Number One's sins are the gravest. He will repeat an endless cycle, his sanity worn away by the hunt day after day, until his soul is utterly destroyed.

But then he meets Zhuo Yu.

The only salvation on his lonely path.

"Mother of the Alien Species Wants to Build Infrastructure [Interstellar]"

Pei Yu, the empire's youngest major, is betrayed by his lover and crashes on a barren planet. By chance, he survives anew in the body of the Mother of the Alien Species.

To return to human society, he has no choice but to whip his ragtag bugs into shape. After failing in a power struggle, they were beaten to a pulp and driven into hiding in the most remote corner of the planet.

Not enough food or water? Then he'll lead them in raising livestock, digging wells, and cultivating the wilderness.

Extreme weather? Then they'll dig deep tunnels, build high walls, and construct the sturdiest nest on the planet.

Surrounded by powerful enemies? Then he'll deploy his forces, seize power again, and become the new ruler who unifies the world.

Feeling a little lonely now and then? This planet is alive! And it can talk!

By the time Pei Yu is finally strong enough to cross the stars and return to Earth for revenge, his fame as the Mother of the Alien Species has already spread far and wide. Every mecha unit is prepared to die on the battlefield.

The new emperor, who once seized power by harming Pei Yu, weeps bitterly and falls to his knees, repeatedly repenting. His eyes red, he tries to find a trace of the past in the monster with the cold golden eyes.

He says hoarsely, “You loved me so much. You have to forgive me.”

Pei Yu points to the terrifying celestial body descending from the sky and gazing down at the entire Earth. “Sorry, that's my lover.”

I only came to make a deal with humanity. Between war and your death, you have to choose one.

Which one do you think they'll choose?

"The Villainous Immortal Lord Has Something to Say"

Luo Yunjing is the most gifted genius of his era, but only he knows he has just ten good days left.

In ten days, he will humiliate the newly initiated junior disciple and subject him to a series of utterly inhumane abuses. In the end, he'll get what he deserves: his demonic junior disciple will devour his flesh and swallow his bones, taking all his cultivation and making him the final stepping stone on his path to slaughtering the Nine Provinces.

As luck would have it, that driven-mad fiend, his dear junior disciple, the future Demon Lord Mo Yuan, has already come up the mountain to join the sect.

Luo Yunjing repeatedly studies the copy of "Battle Through Divine Province" in his hands. Suddenly, he realizes he's the world's greatest villain. He swears to mend his ways and save the people from their imminent doom.

*

Only after his death does Demon Lord Mo Yuan learn that a book has long chronicled his life, but he isn't the protagonist.

The protagonist is in love with his junior disciple. He's simply bad at expressing himself, so he repeatedly gives him the wrong idea. After enduring countless hardships, he remains devoted, takes ninety-nine bolts of heavenly lightning for his junior disciple, and ultimately cultivates the heartless path, cutting himself down with one sword and dying alongside his beloved.

And the tragic romance's male lead is none other than his sworn enemy, his senior brother, the Immortal Lord Treading the Heavens.

The Demon Lord studies the strange book in his hands over and over: "Divine Province's Tortured Love: Love You for Another Three Thousand Years". Suddenly, he realizes he was blind and foolish, and swears never to wrong him again.

*

Mo Yuan returns to the mountain and indeed spots signs he missed in his previous life, thinking to himself, He loves me so much.

Meanwhile, Luo Yunjing is determined to protect his junior disciple and prevent any chance of him turning evil, caring for him in every possible way.

Only when the Immortal Lord is held in a burning embrace and sees his still-unrequited junior disciple, who has turned demonic, grin savagely does he realize their scripts might be a little different...
