She Got a Power-Up After Landing in Prison

Illustrator He Ning worked through the night on a deadline and died from overwork.

The good news: She transmigrated.

The bad news: She transmigrated into the tragic heroine of a novel.

She arrived just as the original owner had been framed and suspected of being an accomplice to thieves. She'd barely escaped after enduring a brutal ordeal, and then her fiance's family kicked her while she was down, using it as an excuse to break off the engagement.

He Ning figured the key to getting out of prison was catching the thief.

Easy!

When questioned, all she asked for was a sheet of paper and a pen.

A moment later, a lifelike portrait appeared before the county magistrate.

He Ning lifted her chin: Go arrest them. Hurry up!

Qingxi County is prosperous and full of all kinds of people. Unsolved cases are frequent, and old cases have piled up like a mountain. The previous five county magistrates were all demoted for mishandling cases before completing their terms.

Recently, however, the county's case-clearing rate has soared, putting it at the top of the nation and attracting the emperor's attention. He ordered an imperial envoy to investigate in secret.

One day, He Ning met a handsome young gentleman and was struck by his beauty, so she drew his portrait.

The portrait vanished without a trace. He Ning assumed the wind had blown it away and thought no more of it.

Jiang Lian, Vice Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, was ordered to inspect the region. When he reached Qingxi County, he discovered his face was on a wanted poster.
