Chi Yue has been ridiculously lucky since childhood. Other people step in dog poop when they go out, while she finds gold. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. Her grandmother has a best friend who keeps recommending her own grandson, Wu Xie, and trying to set them up. Luckily, Chi Yue is a treasured member of her family, so her own grandmother hasn't been quick to sell her off and has kept her well under wraps. As it happens, Chi Yue herself became interested in Wu Xie first. More precisely, she was interested in his adventures.

The heroine's luck is the opposite of Wu Xie's, making them two extremes. Her family has been practicing medicine for generations. When they go exploring tombs, she's a healer who can fight and take a beating. Thanks to all the good deeds she did in her previous life, as well as generations of her family saving lives, she has a tremendous amount of good fortune. Most ordinary evil spirits give her a wide berth, which is another source of her luck. In other words, she's practically a walking ward against evil.

After an accident, she learns about the Nine Gates, the Zhang family, and the Wang family. Always bursting with curiosity, she uses her grandmother's friendship with Wu Xie's grandmother as an excuse to make friends, then shamelessly joins the "adventure team" as their designated healer.

And so they set off on a new round of adventures.
