A story about the two daughters of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, locked in a deadly struggle.
Apart from the historical setting, this story is entirely fictional. The heroine and her older sister take the place of the historical Mary, who married Maximilian I.
Isabella, the second wife of Charles the Bold, gave birth to the historical Mary. In this story, she gives birth to the two sisters instead. The historical Margaret had no children.
