The cat was at death's door, its tiny body unable to withstand the cold, so he took it home.
He named it Bai Nian.
Bai Nian is the little cat Ye Xiu brought home. Its scarlet eyes can see spirits, it's far too smart to be a cat, and its favorite thing to do is sleep.
