Heroine's story: Wen Shushu gets married, to the Prince of Qin, whose power and status are almost on a par with the Regent's.

But she never understands why her husband always talks to her in the soothing tone one might use with a child. She understands even less why he loves feeding her so much, and least of all why his dark eyes fill with such fascination and affection whenever he looks at her.

The only connection between them was that time she fell into the water and he rescued her.

Hero's story: I once chose to let her go, but she came back in the end. We died together on that rainy night.

From the moment I saw her again, I knew she could only belong to me.

A sweet story about a prince who is reborn and rushes to claim his imperial nephew's wife, then spoils her to no end.

Little scene one:

On the first day of their marriage, Wen Shushu is exhausted and sore. Sitting in Pei Zeheng's arms, she gazes at the plump little wontons before her, their thin skins steaming with heat, and swallows. But she is determined to hold her ground.

"I can eat by myself..."

Pei Zeheng smiles, his dark eyes warm, but his tone brooks no argument.

"Open up, sweetheart."

Little scene two:

After the Prince of Qin ascends the throne, the country grows ever stronger. The land is peaceful and the people live contentedly, while the many officials all submit to the emperor's ever more imposing authority.

His Majesty is handsome and majestic, with an air of grandeur. Yet the officials are puzzled by one thing: his imperial robes are always rumpled, especially the embroidered dragon on his chest, which looks absolutely dreadful.

Some think the emperor's attendants are incompetent. One person discreetly recommends a capable replacement, only to be scolded by Lord Pei, the emperor's current favorite.

Then, at one palace banquet, the young and beautiful empress gets drunk. Their vigorous, handsome emperor looks at her with indulgent affection, then, with practiced ease, lifts her onto his lap and gently coaxes her.

As the empress nuzzles her fluffy little head against His Majesty's chest, the mighty dragon embroidered there instantly becomes rumpled.

The officials understand at once.

*The hero is reborn and becomes emperor much later in the story.

*Fifteen-year age gap. Both are each other's first.

*Outwardly composed, inwardly flirtatious older man x soft and delicate beauty.

*I still want to say that this story is really, really sweet and lovey-dovey. If you can't handle it, quit early, because it gets even more over the top later!

Scheming emperor x smiling beauty

A few things to know before reading:

1. One-on-one romance, both are each other's first, happy ending.

2. Fifteen-year age gap.

3. Before the heroine comes of age, there is no intimate physical contact. They are not related by blood.

4. The childhood sweetheart was never a good match.

5. The hero is already a fully accomplished big shot. He's fought all the battles that needed fighting and killed all the people who needed killing, so he's ready to lie flat. The plot is minimal, in short, practically nonexistent.
