What's Wrong with My Lover Wearing a Red Dress?

#Short writing exercise, very casual ending, read at your own risk#

Divided into two parts: past life and present life.

The past life is set in an alternate Republican-era China, with no switching roles, and has a bad ending.

The present life is set in an alternate modern world, with switching roles, and has a happy ending.

1. Republican-era story: A sickly young master and his dark-skinned butler.

Chunsheng wore a gray changpao all year round. His skin was a little dark, and his stiff crew cut made him look even more wooden.

At first, Shen Qing thought he was terribly dull, until one day he accidentally lifted the hem of Chunsheng’s robe...

So beneath that gray robe, there was a vivid red dress...

2. Modern story: A dark-skinned movie star and a rich young master

In an entertainment industry where everyone, regardless of gender, longs for fair skin, Shen Qing alone loves to tan. When there’s work, he acts; when there isn’t, he farms, and whenever he gets the chance, he takes a sunbath. Not a single spot on his body is remotely pale.

The young master of the Chun family was born with fair skin, so delicate it seemed you could pinch water from it, yet he still used sunscreen and skincare every day, afraid of getting even a little darker.

The young master of the Chun family also had a little secret: he had a cross-dressing fetish and loved wearing red dresses.

Dressed in a red dress, the young master looked himself up and down in the mirror. Sure enough, fair skin and a red dress were the perfect match. He would find a fair-skinned partner, and they could both wear red dresses together.

Later, the young master saw Shen Qing’s sun-kissed skin on TV and suddenly thought that dark skin... looked pretty good, too.
