It's Not Easy Being a Concubine

For three years, Lu Chi, heir to the Duke of Zhenguo's household, and his wife have treated each other with icy politeness. The Duchess wants to take a concubine for Lu Chi so he can have an heir. Zhizhi, fair-skinned and beautiful, catches the Duchess's eye and is sent to Lu Chi. Zhizhi often has the same dream. In it, a man grips her waist and presses her down onto the bed. In the warmth of the hibiscus-patterned curtains, she loses track of the spring nights. Zhizhi has always wondered who the man in her dreams is. Until the first day she reports for duty, when she meets Lu Chi. Seeing a face identical to the man in her dream, Zhizhi accidentally drops and smashes an entire tea set. Later, Zhizhi becomes Lu Chi's concubine. Lu Chi spends every night in her room. Under the jealous gazes of those around her, Zhizhi can't help but sigh: being a favored concubine isn't easy. Reader's note: 1. The heroine is a silly beauty and very weak. If that's not your thing, don't read. 2. This is a fictional setting, as far removed from reality as can be. Theme: A match made in heaven
