My name is Huang Shang, an ordinary high school student from China and a staunch believer in materialism.
On my eighteenth birthday, tired of my ordinary life, I wished for some excitement in my day-to-day routine. When I woke up the next morning, my entire worldview had shattered.
After turning eighteen, I finally realized that the world wasn't nearly as normal as I'd imagined, and the people around me had all kinds of extraordinary identities.
My parents, who I thought were just ordinary civil servants, turned out to be high-ranking members of China's official organization for people with special abilities.
My gentle, considerate foreign math teacher was the Lord of Crime, once famous in London a century ago.
My classmates, who usually joked around with me, had special abilities that let them soar through the skies and burrow underground.
The kind older brother I'd known for years was a King from the neighboring land of Neon.
The online friend who kindly helped me with my homework (my go-to tool) was an information broker devoted to wiping out ability users all over the world.
A fellow fan who often shared food manga with me used to be the great demon king who destroyed the world.
My cousin's son was a wage slave at some shady seafood company, tasked with saving the world.
The chuuni senior at an international exchange school was the strongest sorcerer.
But none of that is the point. The point is that on my birthday, the parrot queen I'd raised since childhood stood before me and cried, "Congratulations, Your Majesty, on ascending the throne!"
Then a crowd of people knelt before me and shouted, "Long live our emperor! Long, long live!"
Holy crap!
Only after my abilities awakened did I realize how many stupid things I'd done while living as an ordinary person.
I thought a certain Tenth was playing a mafia game, so I enthusiastically joined in and said I wanted to be a cop who'd arrest him one day. (For some reason, he looked utterly horrified when I said that.)
I saw a certain Yokohama songstress fall from the sky, thought he was threatening public safety by trying to off himself, and called the police. They locked him up in the slammer.
A certain bandage-wearing weirdo grabbed me and said a lot of strange things, so I called the police and had him sent to a mental hospital.
I listened to a certain marshmallow spirit talk about his glorious achievements, assumed he was delusional, called him a wimp, and gave him a pile of practice workbooks.
When a certain Russian rice ball brought up his ideals, I pretended to humor him, then tricked him into doing my Marxist philosophy homework.
When the strongest guy explained cursed spirits to me, I mocked him for being a chuuni and asked which brand of colored contacts he bought.
Now I've fully awakened, and all those people I messed with are sharpening their knives and coming after me one by one... Help!
Note:
A parallel world to the author's other story, with an if setting. Huang Shang was an ordinary person before turning eighteen and didn't know abilities existed.
Before he turned eighteen, his abilities were in a partially awakened state and automatically erased anything abnormal around him, like an enormous domain-type No Longer Human.
The people from Bureau Zero and the Vongola retain their memories of Huang Shang from the parallel world.
I haven't figured out how to handle the blood relationship between Hibari and Huang Shang yet...
I wrote too much about Dazai and want to write someone else, so...
I'm obsessed with Jujutsu Kaisen. As long as it doesn't go off the rails, this will be a Jujutsu Kaisen crossover.
