[Completed and now available to read with a subscription! A new extra chapter is up~] [My new novel launched in August: "Transmigrated into the Female Lead's Shadow Guard [Book Transmigration]". If you're interested, check it out in my author profile~] Chen Lu is a newly ascended immortal and a corporate drone. In keeping with the principle of benefiting the world, every immortal has to work. They must rotate through the Nine Heavens, Kunlun Void, and the Underworld, working ten years at each post. But Chen Lu's stint at Kunlun Void went disastrously wrong, and her immediate superior sent her back to clean up the mess. Chen Lu's job in Kunlun Void is to carry out punishments. The many pocket worlds of Kunlun Void hold prisoners from the Nine Heavens. Chen Lu has to become each prisoner's most beloved person, then punish them by making them gain something only to lose it. So Chen Lu works diligently, from nine to five. At last, she's done her time and completed her task, and is about to head off to her next post. Then she's told that the punishments didn't work, and she has to go back and find out why. Forced to work overtime, Chen Lu angrily investigates and discovers that every time she leaves, someone is quietly stirring up trouble around the central characters. Then, in every new world, her assistant spirit beast tells her in shock, "Lulu! The punishment failed again!" At first, he was a wretched man wallowing in the mud. Then he met a celestial maiden who had descended to the mortal world. At first, he angrily avenged her death. Later, to keep her by his side, he climbed to the very top of the world. Reading guide 1. At its heart, this is a romance. 2. The male lead is not one of the prisoners being punished. 3. There are tons of original worldbuilding details. 4. The female lead's punishments are based on the Eight Sufferings of life. The reason she uses herself as the condition for carrying out the punishment is explained later; it isn't a plot hole. 5. The prisoners being punished are all bad people, and there's no redeeming them. This isn't a scum-punishing novel. The heroine never suffers; she's very strong. 6. Becoming a prisoner's most beloved person can involve friendship, family love, or romantic love, among other things; it's not limited to one kind of emotion. Theme: Devoted love
