(Sorry, I couldn't come up with a new blurb.)
After waking from a fever, Su Zhi discovered that her biological younger sister was the universally adored heroine of a book, with every man in the world going crazy for her.
And she herself was just a background character there to make the protagonist shine. Ordinary and unremarkable. If anyone treated her especially well, it was never because they liked her, but because they wanted to get close to her sister.
After accepting her role, mild-mannered Su Zhi didn't plan to do anything about it. She went on being a background character every day.
To make Su Ruo smile, Male Supporting Character One bought out the most famous bookstore in Jingzhou.
Everyone marveled at his devotion and made the story a popular romantic tale. Su Zhi went along with the crowd and clapped in congratulations.
Male Supporting Character Two was refined and elegant, and came from a noble family, yet he only had eyes for Su Ruo.
Others were green with envy and tried to get Su Zhi riled up. Su Zhi agreed indifferently. "Yeah, it's so annoying."
An imperial decree arrived from the capital, conferring the title of Princess on Su Ruo. Everyone watched Su Zhi as if she were a joke, a woman who lived entirely in the shadow of her younger sister.
Meanwhile, Su Zhi had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
Everyone thought Su Zhi was so vulgar and forgettable that she had no presence at all. Whatever people said, she simply agreed, with not a shred of independent thought or personality.
But the male supporting characters gradually realized that the ordinary eldest daughter of the Su family wasn't quite what they had imagined.
When she looked at them, there was no emotion in her eyes at all, as if she were looking at empty air.
The more the male supporting characters thought about it, the more unsettled they felt. They decided to find out for themselves, but when they saw Su Zhi, they all froze.
For the first time, they realized that this face, so unlike Su Ruo's, was breathtakingly beautiful.
The male supporting characters asked Su Ruo, in roundabout ways, about Su Zhi's preferences.
Su Ruo was very forthcoming, telling them every last detail.
Her innocent-looking face revealed nothing, but in her heart she sneered: Hah, how dare they set their sights on my older sister?
Everything she told them was a lie.
The young troublemaker of the capital made a bet with someone and traveled a thousand miles alone to Jingzhou, just to see what Su Ruo, the Great Ming Dynasty's number-one beauty, looked like.
But as soon as he arrived in Jingzhou, he broke his leg, and spent every last coin he had.
He held his chin high, preparing to kick open the gates of the Su residence, when a young woman walked out.
For the first time in his life, the young troublemaker fell in love, and his whole face flushed bright red. But in the next moment, he heard her say lazily, "You're too short, and your status is too low. Kid, you've got no chance."
The pure-hearted young troublemaker, a pampered imperial relative who was adored by everyone, was dumped in an instant. "Waaah..."
PS (Content warning): The male lead is the young troublemaker. He's younger than the female lead, and shorter than her in the first half of the novel, but will grow taller later. He's always cocky as hell in front of others, but pure-hearted and childish around the female lead, and cries like a little kid.
Theme: Become even better in the face of hardship
