This is the earliest version of the concept. I wrote it carelessly, so there probably won't be a continuation. For the new story, see The Grave Robbers' Chronicles: A Tale of Two Worlds.
Lu Wen woke up to find himself on a shabby little boat. A few rough-looking men sat nearby, including two pretty boys. When one of them saw him wake, he leaned over and asked, “How are you feeling? I told you not to look back, but you wouldn't listen. That was a puppet, the soul of a female zombie!”
What zombie? A Jiaxing Wufang rice dumpling?
Lu Wen was completely baffled. Then someone smacked him hard on the head. A middle-aged man pulled back his hand and sneered, “We've run into trouble before we even set out. How are we supposed to go underground now?”
Go underground? What for, to plant seedlings?
Seeing his friend staring blankly at the boat's floorboards without saying a word for ages, Wu Xie worried he'd been scared witless. He took Lu Wen's face in his hands, looking concerned. “You weren't smart to begin with. Don't go turning into a complete idiot.”
Lu Wen's face stayed impassive, while the little man in his heart threw up his hands and screamed: Don't touch me! I'm straight!!
