Miao Tianming, captain of the Dagger Squad in China's Special Planetary Operations Force, had led his squad through countless missions without a single casualty.

For their first mission at the start of the year 2163, Dagger received the highest-level assignment from the nation: protect a scientist as he entered the next interstellar battlefield, then bring him back safe and sound.

The moment Miao Tianming laid eyes on the mission's subject, he thought it seemed far too easy to qualify as top-level.

But once they entered the interstellar battlefield, the scientist was hammering away at all kinds of mineral samples here, knocking out all kinds of alien creatures there, and stuffing experimental samples into his bottomless bag.
