A Kangxi-Era Palace Maid's Rise to Power

Ji Fanhui was the imperial garden, come to life. That's right, the imperial garden. From the moment she became conscious, she felt a crowd of women trampling over her every day, chattering on about sisters and younger sisters. The garden really couldn't take it anymore. So back then, she dreamed of one day ascending to immortality and leaving this godforsaken place. Then... After the founding of the country, spirits were forbidden from cultivating into human form! Even the imperial garden had no special privileges. She was watching the present-day physics teacher in the office, using her spiritual sense to see him wave a stack of answer sheets while scolding his students. Covering a mouth she wasn't sure where she had, she laughed gleefully. Then, to her great surprise, her heavenly tribulation arrived. Several bolts of lightning came crashing down. And then... She didn't ascend to immortality. She became a low-ranking palace maid in the Kangxi Emperor's harem, several hundred years ago. It was over! What happened to her path to immortality? Was it cut off?!!! How cruel! Could she leave the palace? Sure, why not? She just had to wait another ten years or so. Ji Fanhui was dumbfounded. She couldn't sleep for decades at a time anymore, like she used to. So, for the sake of peace and quiet in the future, she would work hard to climb the ranks! Step one: become the emperor's consort. Then outlive him!!! Premise: Keep striving for the life you dream of.
