The dark, frigid palace quarters were supposed to be Shangguan Wan'er's destined home from the moment she was born, but she refused to accept her fate.

Ignoring the countless scornful looks, she entered the Inner Chongwen Academy, founded by the enemy who had wiped out her family, and threw herself into her studies.

She believed that one day, her wealth of knowledge would help her escape her desperate circumstances.

What Shangguan Wan'er wanted was to be like Empress Wu, carrying the weight of the world and serving all its people!

Her mother's strange dream was a secret she could never speak of.

But Shangguan Wan'er had never imagined she would meet Taiping.

As the only legitimate daughter of the emperor and empress, Princess Taiping was undoubtedly the center of everyone's attention. While her brothers fought their mother to the death for the throne, she remained sheltered beneath her parents' broad wings, far from every worry.

This heaven-blessed girl appeared out of nowhere before Shangguan Wan'er, bold and uninhibited.

The kite that accidentally fell became the beginning of everything that bound them together.

She hurt her deeply, but loved her with all her heart. Years later, Taiping, surrounded by children, asked through her tears: "Shangguan Wan'er, do you regret it?"

She only smiled and softly replied, "Never!"
