Yu Yan has mind-reading abilities. At Seventh High, he’s a troublemaking slacker, a bottom-of-the-class student, and the school bully. But his parents have dumped him at school, declaring he can’t come home until his grades improve.

Yu Yan decides to use his mind-reading powers to improve his grades by unconventional means. But the class monitor is a hopeless romantic, while the earnest study committee member only wants to go dancing at a club.

The only one whose thoughts match his words is his nemesis, the cold, aloof top student Lu Qi, whose mind is full of functions, molecules, and equations.

Mind reading requires physical contact, so Yu Yan has no choice but to make peace with his nemesis.

Lu Qi gives him a cold glance. "Who said that anyone who got along with me was a dog, huh?"

Night falls, and a mysterious virus infects the world. Humans who catch it become part human, part beast, and know nothing but killing. They are called the Variants.

Recently, the major general brought back a cat-eared boy from outside the base. Everyone thought he was the major general’s little pet.

Little did they know the boy was ferocious on the battlefield, cutting down Variants as easily as chopping vegetables.

One of his subordinates sees the boy charge into a crowd, eyes bloodshot as he takes down one Variant after another. Terrified, the subordinate hides behind the major general.

"Major General, are you really sure this thing won't lose control?"

The major general leisurely takes a dried fish from his coat.

At the scent, the kitty leaps to his side and paws at the major general’s shoulder with a soft paw, acting cute. "Meow~"

[Extra Scene]

Ji Xun is a Variant with cat ears.

After an accident, he is rescued by a major and taken home.

The major points a gun at him and says coldly, "As a dangerous Variant, you have to stay by my side and not take a single step away. If you stop being human, I’ll execute you immediately."

Not long after, Ji Xun comes out of the major’s room holding his lower back and demands, "Which one of us isn't human?"

The major rubs his soft, fluffy white ears and admits, "I’m not human."
