The sky over the Lower City was always gray, just like the first twenty years of Mu Ziyu's life.
On his twentieth birthday, his parents jumped to their deaths. It rained heavily that day, but even the rain couldn't wash the gloom from the sky. Looking down from the rooftop, he felt the urge to jump, too.
But then he remembered that he had never lived in the Upper City or seen its blue skies.
So he fled the rooftop, determined to give his parents a proper burial.
Then he came across a man reeking of alcohol. Wearing worn-out flip-flops, the man had collapsed in the alley below Mu Ziyu's building.
