Yue Youran accidentally learns that she is the cannon-fodder supporting character in a novel about a fake heiress and a real heiress.
According to the plot, over the next two years she will suffer a series of calamities: her legs will become disabled, she will drop out of school and stay home, both her parents will die, her younger brother will be killed, and at last she will die alone in a hospital bed.
Yue Youran's heart turns ice-cold.
To stay alive, she binds herself to the Female Lead's Downfall System. As long as she can outshine the female lead, Chu Yi, she can interfere with the plot and save her whole family.
But to surpass Chu Yi, being prettier and getting better grades won't be enough. She also needs to have a broader perspective.
Yue Youran: "What does having a broader perspective mean?"
System: "Here are a few keywords: [Promote righteousness, be civilized, foster new customs, and encourage harmony]."
Yue Youran: "???"

The eldest Miss of the Yue family suddenly seems like a different person. She abandons her old lazy ways, stays up late studying with all her might, and radiates such positive energy that her whole being shines with the dazzling light of socialism.
After transferring to No. 12 High School, she is mocked for her poor academic foundation. Everyone expects her to explode on the spot, but she stays calm. "A temporary setback isn't the end of the road. We must learn from our mistakes and turn them into motivation to move forward."
Then she turns around and comes first in her grade.
Her fiance, Fu Luojing, who used to ignore her completely, has a change of heart and comes looking for her. But she doesn't even look up from her textbook. "Arranged marriages are no good. From now on, my only love is studying."
Yan Shu, a legendary top student, keeps to himself at school, and no one dares approach him. Yue Youran alone pays no heed to the rumors about him. "Protecting the flowers of our motherland and rejecting school bullying are responsibilities we all have a duty to fulfill."

Besides being devoted to her studies and concerned for the world, winning over the main supporting characters can also weaken the protagonist's halo. Yue Youran's first target is Yan Shu, the handsome, strong, and tragic male supporting character.
Yue Youran is full of curiosity about Yan Shu. According to the book's description of his future, he is a beautiful, cool, and gentle boy, unstained by the mud around him. After the Yue family falls into trouble, he will save her life and become the one bright spot in her dark years.
She first sees him at dusk, under a blood-red sky, after hearing people fighting in an alley.
System: "Target Yan Shu is nearby. Would you like to activate capture mode?"
Yue Youran assumes he is outnumbered and rushes over in a panic. Instead, she finds people sprawled all over the alley. The boy gazes at her with a dark expression, raises a hand to wipe someone else's blood off his glasses, and radiates a suppressed, dangerous aura.
Yue Youran: ...
