A Lovely Spring Affair

At the tender age of fifteen, Dou Kou was sold to a young scholar in town to be his bride, in hopes that marriage would bring him good luck and health.

The scholar was handsome as a jade tree and exceptionally clever.

More importantly, he was full of surprises and treated her well.

Dou Kou loved him dearly.

She thought they would spend the rest of their lives together in quiet simplicity.

But who could have guessed the scholar would come first in the imperial examinations and catch the eye of the Prime Minister's daughter?

Dou Kou knew her status was low, and she had neither talent nor money.

Though leaving him felt like cutting out her own heart, she still planned to divorce him and live a quiet life on her own.

Unfortunately...

The scholar was as sweet as honey, yet he denied her freedom, wanting to have the best of both worlds.

Dou Kou had no one to rely on, and getting a divorce was as difficult as reaching the heavens.

After much thought, she set her sights on the young prince who made every court official tremble in fear.

After testing the waters a few times, she gave up.

The prince was simply too cold and fierce.

She was scared, too.

Just as Dou Kou was about to back down, the prince stopped her.

His gaze was deep, and his expression was cold enough to freeze.

"What have you decided?"

Dou Kou was almost trapped in his embrace.

She trembled.

She hadn't realized the prince was so hard, too.

Hard as the blade in his hand.
