Silent Film

Literary version: Zhan Zhao raises his camera and presses the shutter, capturing fleeting beauty and turning it into a kind of eternity. He loves sharing it with others. Until one day, he suddenly wants to keep a beautiful moment all to himself... Plain version: This is a story about an entertainer and a photographer. Medical version: This is a story about a person with psychological abnormalities and the one who guides him. Extraordinary version: This is a story about a genius with an IQ above 160 and a person with a pair of peerlessly beautiful eyes. Legendary version: This is a story about Bai Yutang, Zhan Zhao, and everyone from the Seven Heroes and Five Gallants. * * * * * * P.S.: 1. As usual, I’m a slow writer. This story is half-abandoned, so please don’t rush me. 2. I started writing Silent Film simply because I wanted to portray Fifth Master in all sorts of ways. Naturally, the only person who could witness it all was Zhan the Cat. Some readers may find these different versions jarring. All I can promise, as a Fifth Master fan, is that Bai Yutang won’t be a coquettish courtesan, a flower girl, or a flat-chested pretty boy. 3. This should be a more mature version of Fifth Master: aloof and proud, laid-back and composed, calculating, and quick to take revenge. Zhan the Cat, meanwhile, is a cool, gentle gentleman. For the sake of the story, I may soften some aspects of their personalities.
