The Spirited Little Village Flower of the 1970s

Chu Mian transmigrated into a period novel she'd once read, becoming the same-named, spoiled female side character whose only asset was her beauty.

As a plot device, the girl had been the female lead's foil since childhood, using her own bratty behavior to highlight how sensible the female lead was. When they grew up, she married a good-for-nothing, and her miserable life served to highlight the female lead's happiness.

But Chu Mian was only three and a half years old now, a little dumpling as soft as glutinous rice.

What should she do as a spoiled female cannon-fodder character in a comparison plot?

Of course, keep acting spoiled!

When the female lead went up the mountain to gather wild duck eggs, Chu Mian stayed home and demanded eggs to eat.

When the female lead looked after her younger siblings, Chu Mian demanded that her older sister tell her a story, her older brother make her a kite, and that she be allowed to squeeze her little brother's hands and feet for fun.

When the female lead cleaned the whole house from top to bottom, Chu Mian fussed that she wanted to live in a spacious, big house.

And so, year after year...

The poor family in the book raised chickens and ducks and became one of the village's first households with ten thousand yuan in savings.

The cannon fodder's older sister became a writer through storytelling, her older brother became a key technical expert at the factory, and her younger brother grew into a kind and filial young man.

The family that had relied on welfare became a model family in the village, leading the whole village to prosperity.

The female lead, reborn and finally married to the male lead just as she'd always wished, was dumbfounded. The villagers had already taken the path to prosperity from her previous life. What was she supposed to do now?

After years of acting spoiled, Chu Mian had won praise far and wide for her beauty and kindness. She walked up to the male and female leads, arm in arm with the story's villain, and smiled as she wished them well. "May you be together forever, and may your marriage last a hundred years."
