Love is a huge butterfly effect,
like ten million butterflies beating their wings inside my heart.
Butterfly Effect
-
Rising star Lu Ran has an accident while taking part in a wilderness show. When she wakes up, she finds a cold, aloof man in shabby clothes beside her.
To get him to lead her out of the mountains, she has no choice but to follow him, eating meager meals and wearing clothes that look like rags to her.
Only after she returns to B City, full of grievances, does Lu Ran learn that the man is Pei He, an entomologist who became an online sensation five years ago because of a photograph.
He has spent years working to protect endangered butterfly species and commands great respect in his field.

They meet again two months later, on the set of a wilderness reality show.
The program invites industry heavyweight Pei He as a special guest. The two tacitly pretend they don't know each other.
In the scorching summer, Lu Ran diligently maintains her public image on camera and plays up a pairing with a male actor from her agency, exchanging glances and flirting up a storm.
They look great together, and they have plenty of fans shipping them. The first episode dominates the trending searches after it airs.
But besides their pairing, another name is trending: Pei He, who has once again gone viral for his looks.
People are astonished by his distinguished family background, and admire him all the more for spending over a decade in the remote mountains, day after day, researching his field despite his privileged upbringing.
For a time, Pei He is the talk of the town.
But Lu Ran has suffered at his hands before, so she takes every opportunity to target him on the show, both openly and subtly. Even the audience can tell that something seems off between them.

As the show grows more popular, plenty of behind-the-scenes videos start appearing online.
The most popular clip is dark and grainy. In the faint moonlight, you can just make out that one of the two people in the video is Lu Ran.
At the end, the man, with his back to the camera, speaks in a flat voice.
"Why do you always look so sour when you see me, but smile so happily at him?"
The voice is unmistakably that of Pei He, the entomologist who's been all the rage lately.
