Xia Ji was a renowned architectural design master in China. One day, a leak at home caused both water and electricity problems, and she was unfortunately electrocuted to death. Then she transmigrated into a book.
She landed in a story crammed with cringe-worthy writing from beginning to end, becoming the eccentric fake heiress who spent her life trying to keep the male and female leads apart. In the end, the real heiress, the female lead, drove her out of the house, leaving her undocumented and dead in misery.
To avoid becoming undocumented and dying miserably along with the plot, Xia Ji decided to return to her old career, devote herself to infrastructure construction, and stay away from the leads.
The tallest buildings in the world were no more than five stories high, simply because anything taller would collapse. How many more load-bearing columns should they add?
The rich valued their privacy, so they built a separate house for each person. If everyone had their own floor, could you really see through the floor and spy on the person below?
They liked building every house in a circle. Had they ever heard of squares, rectangles, or polygons?
They liked ornate, distinctive exteriors. Had they ever heard of planning a building's exterior instead of painting it all sorts of colors?
Xia Ji's mouth twitched as she looked at the round houses of every size and color. She'd pay a fortune for a pair of eyes that hadn't been subjected to this.
After Xia Ji earned her own independent household registration through infrastructure construction and left the Xia family in style, the male and female leads, the Xia family, and the upper classes all waited to see her make a fool of herself. Surely Xia Ji would live miserably without the Xia family.
Instead, Xia Ji became a new-generation architectural design master and rose to fame overnight, making all those people who'd been waiting to laugh at her eat their words.
Original male lead: "You think making money is enough? Don't be naive. The way to survive in this world is through power and status."
Xia Ji: "Sorry, I already have both from working on infrastructure."
---- Blurb for the ongoing novel Mountain God Kitty Boss Goes Viral on a Variety Show [Book Transmigration] ----
Le Xiangxi was a mountain god. Later, people took over her mountain, and as she was forgotten, she gradually faded away.
After transmigrating into a book, she came across He Zhizhou, a short-lived supporting male character and actor, barely alive in the mountains. In her kitten's body, Le Xiangxi let out a loud yowl and called for help, saving him.
The spiritual energy in He Zhizhou was so abundant it spilled out of him. As long as she stayed by his side, her own spiritual power could recover, so Le Xiangxi decisively threw herself into clinging to him.
He Zhizhou was going to film a variety show, and Le Xiangxi scampered after him. Wherever he went, she followed.
*
The variety show was livestreamed and pre-recorded.
Before filming even began, He Zhizhou was already being flamed on trending topics. The reason was that he had "broken up" the original female lead's relationship. Everyone was waiting for him to become a complete flop and leave the entertainment industry.
But then...
Before filming began, a Weibo trending-topic comment read: There's a cat here that's turned into a spirit! She cleared out every single prize from the arcade's claw machines! The age of cultivation is upon us!
During filming:
Le Xiangxi used a pet translator to interact with her fans.
A Weibo trending-topic comment read: Mom and Dad, come quick! This cat has turned into a spirit and is bragging about how much she spoils her fans! That's so unfair!
Ever since Le Xiangxi learned that believers' faith could increase her spiritual power, she worked hard every day to promote herself.
She drew her fans' attention so they could see the mountain's beauty.
The fans: A paradise on earth.
She held interactive Weibo giveaways to keep her fans loyal, offering them a blessing from the mountain god.
The fans: Whether we win or not doesn't matter, it's the taking part that counts. Then, before anyone knew it, another tiny giveaway had made the trending topics.
The fans who won became lucky charms, blessed with unbelievable good fortune.
The fans: Kitty Boss, are you holding another giveaway?! I'll definitely enter properly this time!
Later, the people who had mocked He Zhizhou realized that he was getting more and more popular, while his cat had shot to fame at rocket speed and become even more famous than him!
Theme: Prosperity and democracy.
