The General Only Wants to Be a Princess Consort

(It's a sweet romance! A sweet romance!)

As the most treasured princess of the Xia dynasty, Nan Wanzhu was more like a bird in a cage, and one that had woven its own bonds around itself.

She was a beautiful, soulless puppet, feeling neither joy nor sorrow, dutifully playing the part of a princess.

Only when an eagle named Hua Chuyue, unstoppable and wielding her life as a sword, savagely slashed through the thick cocoon around Nan Wanzhu's heart did Nan Wanzhu understand what it meant to be human.

Later, she became a Grand Princess with power over the entire court and collected everything connected to Hua Chuyue. People say you can learn about someone through their belongings, but Nan Wanzhu spent her whole life wondering why Hua Chuyue had risked her life to save her, and never figured it out.

She fell into a deep sleep upon Hua Chuyue's black cloak. Hearing her imperial nephews and grandnephews weep in grief, she opened her eyes and found herself back at fifteen.

Now that she understood her own heart, Nan Wanzhu swore that in this life she would make Hua Chuyue the happiest person in the world. Let her bear every storm and hardship. She would show everyone that even as a bird in a cage, she was a phoenix behind bars!

Only... how did doting on her end up taking such a turn?

Hua Chuyue: "My greatest happiness is becoming Your Highness's consort."

Nan Wanzhu: "???"

A general who gets relentlessly flirted with but has to hold back, paired with a princess who only realizes she's fallen deeply in love after coming into her own.

Basically, a sweet little story about two people secretly in love with each other finally finding their happy ending after she is reborn.

General Hua: We were never meant to meet. I had to risk my life to make it happen.

(I recently came across an edit of a female general, and it was just so good that this story came to be.)

Theme: To hold your hand and grow old together.
