Lan Zhao has been able to see people's souls since childhood.
At twelve, Lan Zhao helped a vengeful ghost wandering the mortal world repair a piece of its soul. From then on, he embarked on the path of professional soul repair, earning a great reputation among ghosts.
Fame brings trouble. One day, word of his reputation reached the Underworld. Underworld big shot Yun Jiu descended from the heavens and pressed a long blade to Lan Zhao's neck, his gaze deep and icy. "You're the first person to compete with the Underworld for business."
In his moment of peril, Lan Zhao frantically tossed out a talisman, and the big shot landed face-first on the ground.
Yun Jiu: You do know that one day you'll have to report to the Underworld, don't you?
Lan Zhao: That won't be for a long time. For now, you're my prisoner.
Yun Jiu: Kid, you're really playing with fire. You don't have to wait until later. You'll pay for it soon enough!
Everyone in the Underworld knew that Little Ninth Master had lost business to someone.
Some busybodies eagerly wanted to teach that ignorant mortal a lesson on Ninth Master's behalf, but he slapped every one of them right back.
Yun Jiu: What do you know? He takes my business, I take him. This is a win for me.
