Yue Wenyin was breathtakingly beautiful, the most noble princess in the land. Unfortunately, Her Highness was color-blind and couldn't tell one color from another.
Only the glimmer of broken pearls and the light shimmering on the water as koi slapped its surface could leave the faintest trace of color in her eyes.
So a minister went to the shore and brought back a mermaid for Her Highness.
With a flap of his massive tail, the mermaid sent up a spray of water that filled the princess's black-and-white world with a sky full of stars.
The princess was so captivated by his colorful fish tail that she overlooked his muscular human torso and predatory gaze.
At last, one day, the mermaid pulled the little princess into the water. Pointing to the droplets trickling down from his collarbone, he spoke in a husky voice.
"Princess, the droplets here are beautiful too."
Yue Wenyin's gaze followed the droplets as they moved, until they disappeared beneath the waist-deep water. Only then did she stammer:
"Is it... pink?"
