(The blurb I posted before was for an ancient-style ABO story, and it was too difficult to write, so I've changed it to a pure yuri story. The characterizations have changed, but the overall pacing is about the same. If you added it to your collection a year ago and really can't accept the changes, feel free to remove it and perhaps we'll meet again in another story. My sincere apologies.)
Qin Shouyu stood by Cui Jiang for many years.
Cui Jiang used her for just as many years.
Only when she had been used to death did Shouyu resolutely push Cui Jiang away, choosing to tumble down the mountainside rather than stay in her arms.
Cui Jiang is reborn, facing a life in which she and Shouyu have no connection at all.
Shouyu never entered the Imperial Academy, never made a bet to marry, and never met her.
In fact, the first time Cui Jiang sees her, Shouyu swiftly swings her blade, splattering Cui Jiang's face with blood.
“Do you know me?” Shouyu asks.
Cui Jiang rushes to meet her, but the old friend standing before her doesn't recognize her.
After thinking for a moment, Cui Jiang wipes away the blood and shakes her head. “I don't remember. We must have never met.”
The title comes from Liu Yong's poem, “Brahman Order: Last Night I Slept in My Clothes”:
“Turning restlessly on an empty bed, I relive our nights together. But the dreams of love are hard to resume, even with my head on the pillow. My heart is full of countless thoughts; though we stand close, we are a thousand miles apart. What a lovely day, what a beautiful scene. We have only this longing for each other, with no way to make it come true.”
Note:
1. Both leads are reborn. This is not a wife-chasing-to-the-crematorium story; they have always been moving toward each other.
2. The main couple's story has both angst and sweetness. The ending is happy, but there will be regrets, so read with caution if that bothers you.
Coming soon: The Great Shaman (a collection of stories)
Without any shamanic power, Ning Wei is looked down on by everyone. She lives by doing exactly what those around her expect.
While still young, she waits for a natural death.
Yun Yi pulls her out of the mire, makes her tutor to the princess, and takes the dying princess on as her little sidekick.
The little sidekick is dutiful and conscientious: she watches and listens more than she speaks, pays her respects morning and evening, and offers her greetings and devoted service.
Then, by accident, she makes an unbreakable pact with the older sister who is her teacher in name only.
Yun Yi takes her to see, listen, and experience the world, then leaves once her work is done.
Many years after Yun Yi disappears, Ning Wei travels far and wide on her own.
No matter how lonely the road, Ning Wei never takes on a little sidekick.
Because she has an unbreakable pact.
