A Bumper Harvest Is Foretold by the Auspicious Snow

On the winter solstice of the first year of Yong'an, snow fell over Jiangyuan City at midnight. Jiang Bancheng, a wealthy merchant in the city who was over fifty, was blessed with an only son. At the same time, Chen Tianqiao, a wealthy merchant in the west of the city, was blessed with an only daughter. The Jiang and Chen families had been family friends for generations, so they arranged a marriage between their children. In the eighteenth year of Yong'an, the Jiang family's only son, Jiang Fengnian, was to marry the Chen family's only daughter, Chen Ruixue. On the wedding day, the bride ran off with a poor scholar from the city, turning the Jiang family into a laughingstock. Several months later, Chen Ruixue returned alone. People shunned her, and she nearly suffered the punishment of being drowned in a pig cage. Jiang Fengnian kept his word and still married her, saving her life. And so the story begins... Note: This is a fictional setting, with plenty of original worldbuilding. The heroine prioritizes her career, and one of the heroines is pregnant by another man. The leads marry first and fall in love later. There is no golden finger, and this is definitely not a wish-fulfillment story. The protagonists are not all-powerful, and the story has a slow build. There are many male characters, and the story focuses on family business, management, and political maneuvering. Theme: Peace and prosperity for the nation, and a thriving family business
