|Kitchen undercover heir x sweet, gentle young chef|
|Food safety vs. delicious food|
1.
Nie Yu is a fourth-year student majoring in culinary arts and nutrition, and a fan of Chinese cuisine. With her sweet, rabbit-like looks and gentle nature, she once became a hit online after a photo of her expertly tossing a wok during a cooking competition earned her the title of "the queen of contrast-cute chefs." Cooking is both her gift and her passion.
For her graduation internship, Nie Yu joins a high-end hotel in the capital as the assistant to the Chinese restaurant's head chef.
One day, a friend comes to visit, and Nie Yu, who has never made a mistake at work, vents her frustrations:
"What's going on? It's like some jinx has attached itself to me. Nothing's been going right. Today, a customer even complained that I made the braised pork spicy. Why would I ever put chili in braised pork?"
Her friend listens patiently as Nie Yu vents, then suddenly spots a tall man in a waiter's uniform coming around the corner, directly across from them.
His face is covered by a pure white mask, and his visible features are gentle. His eyes alone are breathtaking.
Her friend slaps the table and exclaims, "You should be grateful, Nie Yu! The waiters at this restaurant you just started working at are so handsome. What more could you want?"
Nie Yu glances over. Her friend means Xie Yucan, the Chinese restaurant waiter who can win over customers with a single smile. She launches into an even fiercer complaint:
"Him? He's probably the jinx I was talking about. T_T"

Xie Yucan is the young master of the Xie family, the capital's leading food company. He's never set foot in a kitchen, but he has extremely high standards for food. He'd rather go hungry than eat anything that doesn't meet his cooking standards, without exception.
Unexpectedly, one day he puts on a uniform and goes undercover in the kitchen.
He lives in a shabby staff dorm and eats food made by an unremarkable young chef.
One day, his friend wants to find out what kind of chef could make food that suits Young Master Xie's taste so well.
He shows up unannounced, only to see a customer picking a fight in the restaurant.
The customer picks up a bowl of noodles in chili oil and is about to throw it at someone. Xie Yucan immediately shields the female chef beside him.
Wearing his immaculate white uniform, he protects the woman in front of his chest, even though he's a germaphobe. He lets the entire bowl of noodle soup spill down his back without changing expression, then smiles at her and says, "Nie Yu, a jinx won't protect you, but I will."

Months later, on the very night Nie Yu learns that Xie Yucan went undercover in the kitchen, she also discovers that he's the third grandson of the Xie family.
Nie Yu thinks he must be just another fake, polished facade of the capitalist class.
Only later does she learn that beneath all the ugliness of human nature, he's a shining beacon of justice.
"I hold my chef's hat in my hand as I stand amid the filth, white coat stained gray, covered in cooking fumes. I believe that one day, I will bring the light of day. My chef's hat will still be in my hand, the cooking fumes will all disperse, and though my white coat is stained with grime, I will still stand tall. I will remain true to myself, with nothing weighing on my heart."
[PS:]
A story about life in the kitchen, a group of young people helping one another succeed, and finding great love.
Both leads are each other's first love and have no previous sexual partners. The male lead starts out undercover in the kitchen, exposing food safety hazards. Later, he goes back to take over his family's food company and transforms into a CEO (not really). The heroine is a highly talented Chinese chef who stays true to her passion, with a bright future ahead. There are plenty of identity reveals, no pointless second male or female leads, and the romance unfolds naturally. It's not a matter of one chasing the other.
