A short story under 10,000 characters, pending revision The aloof Song Fen has a secret. He has a thing for scores with a zero in them. If he can't get a score containing a "0" on an exam, he'd rather hand in a blank paper. That's why he never, ever writes the essay on his Chinese exams. Until one day, his handsome deskmate got a perfect score in Chinese... Once, twice, three times. Song Fen was so restless he couldn't stand it. After holding back again and again, he finally snapped one afternoon after school. He cornered his handsome deskmate, cheeks flushed and eyes darting, and stammered, "C-could you teach me how to write essays?" Ji Ling looked down at the boy's fair, rosy face and smiled softly. "Sure." He'd been keeping an eye on this little monster, who seemed to have taken human form from who-knows-what, for quite some time. Theme: Love can transcend species.
