Unfading Youth

“I'm a wanderer forever bound for distant shores, alone/

And in this vast sea of people, you are my woman.”

Chen Chao spent three years living in his hometown during middle school. He never managed to love that land, with its earthy soil and grassy scents.

On the first day he returned, his family's belongings were piled onto a truck, which drove past a cotton field.

A little girl stood in the field, her half-length hair tousled by the wind and her hands covered in dirt. He was wearing a white, clean, ill-fitting dress.

A handsome straight boy and a pretty, earnest girl.
