Aglaia's parents were distant branches of the Gaunt family. Voldemort seized her and used her and the Gaunt family's pure-blooded blood in an experiment to create a child. At the time, Voldemort's mind was clouded by the splitting of his soul through his Horcruxes. Excited, he summoned several wizards to experiment with blood transfusions, hoping to make himself pure-blooded. But all the test subjects died, and in a rage, Voldemort cast several Cruciatus Curses before handing Aglaia over to his House-elves to look after. Not long after, Harry Potter was born and Voldemort was defeated. With her provider gone, Aglaia was taken back by the Ministry of Magic. An orphan with both parents dead, Aglaia underwent a bloodline magic test and was declared the last descendant of the Gaunt family. So Aglaia survived on the Ministry of Magic's monthly orphan allowance. As an adult, Aglaia had to deal with the complicated fact that others believed Potter, her sworn enemy, was on the side of justice. She also had to put up with an immature kid who was always demanding her attention. Miranda: Aglaia, Malfoy thinks you like Harry, so he's gone to bother Harry again. Seriously, friend, which one do you actually like? Aglaia: I'm exhausted. I don't want to talk.
