The Merchant and the General Got Together

After Cheng Xiu, who had always dreamed of joining the army, failed the military exam, he inherited the Yunmeng Embroidery Workshop his mother left behind.

To attract customers, Cheng “Shameless Merchant” Xiu made up a “best embroiderer in the world.”

The “best embroiderer in the world” turned out to be a very successful persona.

Too successful...

It attracted the attention of the capital’s famous playboy general, Hong Mijiang.

At their first meeting, Cheng Xiu glared at the pretty-faced man in front of him, clenching his little fists inside. Isn’t he one of the examiners who took bribes from candidates before the military exam?! I’ll take him down!

Hong Mijiang: He’s looking at me like that because he’s overcome by my beauty. What a pity I’m not into men... Only the best embroidering girl in the world is worthy of me!

Later...

Cheng Xiu, completely exhausted, confessed: Actually, I’m the best embroiderer in the world...

Hong Mijiang: You don’t have to lie to me. I won’t believe you!

And later still...

According to a brothel madam, “Last night, Boss Cheng and General Hong came to our brothel hand in hand and asked for a private room.”

Passerby: What’s so unusual about that? Did they go to the brothel just to drink and listen to music?

The madam, conflicted: They didn’t order any girls...

And so a crafty merchant met a blockhead, and they went from the business world to the battlefield, then on to the imperial court...

A playboy general who talks himself into love x a shrewd, money-minded merchant

A powerful couple, one-on-one, happy ending. A story about a married couple racing headlong toward a happy life while causing a delightful ruckus.

[Content warning: Switch couple] (I never thought that one day I’d have to add a warning to my own switch-couple novel, even though I’m a specialist in them...)

Theme: Build a career and defend your country.
