There are quite a few angsty parts, but the two leads are incredibly sweet together. Both of them have rather tragic pasts, so let them suffer first and find happiness later. Anyway, this is a story born from a flight of fancy. Now for the proper preface.
In the ancient legends of the galaxy, there was once a planet that never rotated. People bestowed upon it the title "D." That planet had once been prosperous, but for reasons unknown, it vanished into the vast sea of stars, leaving behind only an ancient, enigmatic legend:
When the light of sunset illuminates the River of the Dead, there will be a near shore and a far shore. At one end lies a sacred land where only blue spider lilies, birds of paradise, white lilies, and lilacs bloom. At the other, a blazing purgatory where only red spider lilies, black daturas, poppies, and Casablanca lilies sway.
When the sunset can no longer reach that planet, the ferryman of the River of the Dead crowns the lost lambs with evening primroses. As their fragrance fills the air above the river, linking the near shore of life with the far shore of death, the ferryman begins to sing: "To live or to die, to choose hell or heaven, or to drift upon the River of the Dead for all eternity."
